There are plenty of good reasons for giving a handmade gift for your boyfriend or girlfriend this Valentine's Day.

While handcrafted presents can be less pricey, you need to devote much thought and block out enough time to create something appropriate and special.

And the opportunity to customize or personalize a present doesn't come too often within the year. And your sweetheart ending up realizing that you took time and effort will help rekindle romance and strengthen your bond.

Here are the remaining items you can DIY for Valentine's Day:

(7.) Gift basket

Except for a few materials like a wicker basket or cardboard box, ribbons, and paper filler, you only need to put together a bunch of consumable goodies for a gift basket.

The key to gathering and buying goodies is to adhere to a theme your sweetheart will love.

Does she enjoy a mug of hot cocoa or coffee while cozying up with her favorite book? Make sure to include a box of sachets of her favorite brand of hot cocoa mix, a pack of miniature marshmallows, and stirrers.

If she has invested in a coffee machine or French press, get her a bag of high-grade coffee beans

Or, pack a few bags of mixed nuts with dried fruits if he's the type to snack on something when binge-watching his favorite Netflix shows.

(8.) Wine bottle bag

This is another DIY craft where skills in sewing machine will come in handy.

If your boyfriend enjoys the occasional glass of red wine with his steak, or if champagne is a staple during your anniversaries, give your sweetheart a bottle of alcohol placed inside this gift bag.

(9.) Pet toys

Does your boyfriend or girlfriend act as fur parent to a cute, four-legged companion like a cat or dog?

If your sweetheart's the type to dote on pets, why not make a bunch of dog toys out of leftover fabric and polyester fabric fill?

Make sure to choose durable fabric like faux fur, cotton, and denim.

If cats are your sweetheart's preferred pets, the video above will serve as a tutorial to creating a scratch toy.

(10.) Framed love poem written in calligraphy

This is the ideal DIY gift if you have a neat penmanship. Practice writing at the blank side of junk documents first so the calligraphy will come off as polished and appealing as possible.

Even if you're no poet yourself, you can look up a love poem, like Elizabeth Barrett Browning's How Do I Love Thee?, or Sonnet 116 by William Shakespeare, and copy it onto high-quality parchment paper before having it framed.

(11.) Notepad holders

If there isn't a day that your sweetheart doesn't doodle or jot down notes as reminders, then a notepad holder and pen should be staples on their desk.

While this handmade project is cost-effective because it involves upcycling, you can customize its size and designs by using scrapbook paper, pre-made die cuts, and stickers. You can even make a bunch of them instead of giving just one!
